Dr. Bhooma Parthasarathy has a Master’s degree and Ph.D. in Social Work. She is the Director of the Thirumalai Charity Trust. She has been primarily responsible for setting up and managing the rural programmes of the Trust since 1983. She along with her friends and family set up the Thirumalai Mission Hospital as a unique model hospital for primary and secondary healthcare. She was instrumental in setting up the three Vedavalli Vidyalaya Schools since 1994; she offers support to these schools whenever needed. These schools have over 2000 children.

Mr. R. Sampath is a Founder-Trustee of the Thirumalai Charity Trust. He is the Managing Trustee of TCT. He is the Chairman of Ultramarine and Pigments Ltd. Educated as a Chemical Engineer in the U.S., he has worked in prominent Chemical and Personal Care companies in the U.S. and in India. In the early 1970s, he moved to Ranipet to set up a Business to manufacture soaps and detergents. He is among the early pioneers who initiated the industrialization of this area, then a backward area of Tamil Nadu. He is well respected for his advice and support to other companies and industrialists during occasions of crisis. He is also a Founder-Trustee of the Akshaya Vidya Trust, that manages the Vedavalli Vidyalaya schools, in Vellore District of Tamil Nadu.
After ten years of working as an artist and graphic designer, she pursued her passion to become a teacher and teacher educator. She obtained a Diploma in Teacher Training from Cambridge University. She is currently the Correspondent of the three ‘Vedavalli Vidyalaya’ schools in Ranipet-Walajapet and is also the Secretary of the ‘The Akshaya Vidya Trust’ that manages them. She manages these institutions with a focus on child centred education and has spearheaded many new initiatives to make learning easy, exciting and meaningful in the last decade.
She has also conducted teacher training courses for young graduates to prepare them to teach in schools in the locality. She has introduced the rarely pursued subjects such as Sociology, Geography, Home Science, and Fashion Studies for the plus two, in the school to give children a wider exposure. There are 2000 students, 110 teaching and 75 admin and support staff in these institutions. The schools have a reputation in the locality for their teaching methods and holistic development of students.
Dr. D. K. Sriram is the Medical Director at Hindu Mission Hospital – A Multi-specialty Quaternary Care Hospital & Consultant Diabetologist at Apollo Hospital, Greams Road, Chennai.After attaining his Bachelor’s degree in Medicine, Dr. D. K. Sriram trained and worked in the US and UK for over 17 years. His qualifications include (MRCP-UK), (MRCP Endocrinology & Diabetes -UK), M.Sc. Diabetes Warwick -UK. & FRCP(UK).
Dr. D. K. Sriram is a regular speaker and panelist in medical forums both in India and abroad. He has published over 50 articles in peer reviewed journals and is also actively involved in clinical trials.
Ms. Tara Parthasarathy is a Managing Director at Ultramarine and Pigments Limited, which manufactures inorganic pigments and surfactants. She has a Master’s in Environmental Management from Yale University, and a B.Tech. in Industrial Biotechnology from Anna University. Prior to joining UPL, she worked at the World Resources Institute to develop the Green Power Market Development Group, a platform designed to help large industrial and commercial companies invest in and procure renewable energy. She has also worked for the Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation in Delhi, where she managed the Buildings Efficiency and Appliance Efficiency portfolios. She is interested in gender justice and sustainable development.
Mrs. Ramya is a trustee of The Akshaya Vidya Trust which manages the three Vedavalli Vidyalaya schools in Ranipet-Walajapet. She was part of the project "Make a difference in India" of CII, where she, along with seven other young members of family businesses, adopted a village in Ramanathapuram district to enable the villagers to set up sustainable businesses. She is an active member of the CII Family Business Network and the Indian Chemical Council.
She retired after being the Chief Secretary to the Government of Tamil Nadu for two and a half years. She previously served as the Commissioner of Land Administration in the rank of Additional Chief Secretary. During her career spanning nearly four decades, she also held posts in the Finance, Health, Education, Nutrition, Environment and Civil Supplies Departments.
Serving as the Health Secretary of Tamilnadu over two terms, she streamlined the public health system and implemented innovative schemes for maternal and child health. She was the Mission Director of the National Rural Health Mission as well as the Mission Director of the State Health Society when Tamil Nadu won the award for best performance among the non-empowered action group states.
Post retirement, she has been associated with several non profit healthcare institutions such as the Cancer Institute, Voluntary Health Services and Schizophrenia Research Foundation .She holds the post of Professor of Practice and is associated with teaching and research programmes at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.
